IRS Return (Form 990) for the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting

IRS ReturnEvery year non-profit foundations like the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting are required to file a return (Form 990)  with the Internal Revenue Service.  The most recent filing of the Foundation for NJ Public Broadcasting is for the July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007 period.  The first two pages summarize revenue and expenses.  Schedule III-a lists grants made by the Foundation to NJN (total of $4,095,588.)   Schedule III-b lists services provided by the Foundation for NJN.  The compensation of Foundation Officers can be found in Schedule VII.

Letter from State Treasurer to Elizabeth Christopherson

Below is a link to a PDF of a letter from the State Treasurer to Elizabeth Christopherson calling on NJN to develop a detailed financial plan for FY 09, to freeze non-essential spending, to not fill vacancies, and most interestingly to correct material weakness identified in the 1/08 independent audit of the Authority and the NJN Foundation.

According the Treasurer “the Authority cannot produce an accrual ‘GAAP’ basis balance sheet at any reporting period, nor can it efficiently monitor its fiscal position…”
