This document makes some good and and very sound observations. I, for one, agree with it wholeheartedly.
Don’t forget that when 911 happenned, it was NJN that was giving us the information that we needed since most of the other stations were off the air and our government never even issued an EBS. When in time of need, it was supposed to work. It did not! NJN did work!
NJN is the only outlet for REAL New Jersey. At a time when people across the country think of us only in terms of “The Sopranos” and “Jersey Shore” (both an embarrassment) need NJN desperately. The NJN News covers every corner of this incredibly diverse state every day and is the ONLY source of ‘Jerseycentric’ news. Other programs, especially Reporter’s Round Table and On the Record not only let you know what’s happening in Trenton but fill you in on the who and how of it all. While some of the weekend evening shows are also shown on WNET and WLIW, no one else is covering NJ or accurately showcasing NJ to the world.
